Trees Whisper (on going)
This project represents the earliest thematic exploration I embarked upon, over a decade. I have traveled across the world, hoping to continue this project well into old age. Trees are everywhere, yet they often escape our notice. For me, a wondrous and treasured feeling arises when I focus on a single tree or a grove: in that moment, I almost sense it as a living “person” before me. I arrive, I see you. I felt embraced by the trees; I felt a sense of belonging—a moment when life returns to its most natural, essential state. This work serves as the meditation in nature, allowing me to continually experience the relationship between me and the other; between humans and the natural world. In our frantic, ceaseless contemporary lives, nature becomes a space where pretenses can be shed, allowing our unvarnished, true selves to emerge. Through human intervention and perception, these interactions form the “landscape.” Landscape, the other, and myself overlap, creating multiple layers of spatial dialogue. Trees themselves exist in a state of relative stillness and longevity. In this project, I explore whether the fleeting moments I experience within a landscape can touch something eternal. The relationship between this fleetingness and the instantaneous capture of a digital camera deepens my awareness of the romantic connection between photography and time-space. Photography becomes, for me, a wellspring of meaning in life. The inherent spirituality and presence of trees—their towering, upright forms—invite us to look up, offering symbols of life and hope. Nature, almost sacred, stands as an entity worthy of reverence, a source that enriches our lives.
